Be Strong in Him

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.” Ephesians 6:10

In my life, I would say the most challenging aspect I deal with is relying on myself more than I should. I was raised on a dairy farm with very hard-working parents and I witnessed the grit it took to just keep going day to day. While they no longer have the dairy farm, they’re still hard workers and seem to have more stamina than most.

I am very thankful that my parents taught me how to work hard and to push through the difficulties of life, but more importantly they taught me how to love and serve the Lord faithfully. As I grow in Christ, I’m learning the key to being strong physically, mentally and spiritually in whatever you do is continuing to stay connected to Him. While I know this sounds so elementary and simple, it’s easy to rely on your own strength instead of His.

On our own we will get run down either physically, spiritually or emotionally. This is why the Lord refers to Himself as the vine and we are the branches in John 15. We don’t need to do the work of the vine when we stay connected to Him. Additionally, we will bear fruit; we will be effective in His Kingdom when we stay connected to Him. So, let’s remember our strength, our source for everything comes from Him when we are His children. Our part is to let Him be our strength.
