Blessed is the Nation Part 3

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” Psalms 33:12a

Has God moved supernaturally in a corporate setting since the First and Second Great Awakening? Absolutely! My mother tells me of Azusa Street Revival and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in a small school in Topeka, Kansas that ultimately changed our spiritual climate in the early part of the 20th century. This outpouring radically different and contagious.

I also remember in my lifetime the days of the Big Tent Revivals where people came with the expectancy to be saved or healed or baptized in the Holy Spirit. The manifestation of miracles were the norm for such meetings. Entire communities were changed. The late 1960s and early 1970s the Jesus Movement began on the West Coast moving through North America, Europe, and Central America. The term, “Jesus Freaks” was common for those who experienced such an outpouring of the Spirit of God. Denomination barriers weren’t nearly as important when they were seeking all that God had for them. It was a time of excitement and great changes.

On Father’s Day in 1995, a revival broke out in Brownville, Florida. Over ten years, hungry people came seeking an encounter with God. Night and day according to Wikipedia millions of people received repentance, answered the call to holiness and manifestation of the Holy Spirit were expected. The move of the Spirit spread to other cities and nations as well.

While our pledge of allegiance states we are “One Nation Under God,” do we reflect that? In 1962, prayer was taken out of the public school. The following year, Bibles were taken out of public school. In 1973 abortion was legalized and more than 63 million babies thus far have murdered. In June 2015 the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage. In June 2020, the Supreme Court ruled “that discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity is necessarily also discrimination ‘because of sex’ as prohibited by Title VII.” (Wikipedia). Proverbs 14:34,” Righteousness exalted a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people.”

Are you hungry for a Spiritual Awakening that will change you and in turn change others? Second Chronicles 7:14 tells us how this will happen, “If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land. May God Bless America again.
