But First...The Shedding of Blood

“What can wash away my sins, nothing but the blood of Jesus.” That is one of my favorite songs. Just to think that before I could be forgiven, there had to be blood shed. Hebrews 9:22 says, “In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”

Before the time of Jesus, man had to make a sacrifice. The shedding of blood from an animal. Jesus became the perfect sacrifice. The lamb without a spot or blemish. He gave his life so we might live and have life more abundantly. Ephesians 1:5 says, “in Him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiver of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” He showed us grace by giving his own life. I think sometimes we don’t take forgiveness seriously enough. It would be hard for me to shed my blood so someone who messes up can be forgiven. That’s why He’s an awesome God and I’m one lucky, blood bought, totally redeemed, child of a soon coming King!
