Called Out of Egypt

Mathew 2:21 So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.

The way the birth and fulfillment of the life of Jesus took place is amazing to me. We can see the enemy trying to rob the promise from the beginning. However, as Mary and Jospeh followed each instruction, God faithfully worked out every detail. There was not one thing lost, not one misstep, in fact the exact fulfillment of prophesy. For every unplanned event, an instruction was given and with each act of obedience their precious promise was protected.

I’m sure being foreigners in a land their people were delivered from was not comfortable, but the Lord knew that hiding place was necessary. So, they waited, and they trusted, as surely as they fled, their call home was coming. Often we may face a season where we feel like foreigners in a land, startled about the unplanned and unsure of the future. But we have to know God has a plan for our lives as sure as He had a plan for Jesus. One plan led to Calvary and ours leads to eternity spent with Him. His goal is to be with you forever, but that will require trust and unwavering obedience. Hang on if you’re not in familiar territory. Don’t move before the Master visits you with instruction. He knows about the Herods, he knows what threats need to fall and his plan for you is good. Just as Jesus was called out of Egypt you will be too, but to fulfill God’s word about your life, wait on His word.
