Choose Joy. Joy Above All Part 6

But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.  Psalm 5:11

When we trust fully in God’s plan our rejoicing comes from our innermost being.  It is a peace that wells up into a shout exclaiming that we may not understand but that we trust.  This rejoicing will continue to grow as we nourish our relationship with Christ through His Word.  The closer we are to God and the more we obey His commands joy can become our “normal”.  It is not joy because of the circumstance but joy because of whose we are, because I trust in His Way and not my own.  There is an old hymn we used to sing called Joy Unspeakable.  It is an upbeat hymn and the very words encourage my soul. Here are the lyrics:

Verse 1:  I have found His grace is all complete; He supplieth every need. While I sit and learn at Jesus’ feet, I am free, yes, free indeed.  [Refrain]

Verse 2: I have found the pleasure I once craved; It is joy and peace within. What a wondrous blessing! I am saved from the awful gulf of sin. [Refrain]

Verse 3: I have found that hope so bright and clear, living in the realm of grace.O the Savior’s presence is so near; I can see His smiling face. [Refrain]

Verse 4: I have found the joy no tongue can tell, how its waves of glory roll!It is like a great o’erflowing well, Springing up within my soul. [Refrain]

Refrain:It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, full of glory, full of glory. It is joy unspeakable and full of glory; O the half has never yet been told!

We must find joy above all else and the words of the song show us the way.  Grace through salvation, needs supplied through Him, learning at the feet of Jesus and oh the nearness of His presence.  It is in these things our joy will overflow.
