Clean theTemple

We read in Matthew that Jesus cleanses the temple for the second time in His ministry. He threw out all that sold and bought in the temple. He turned over the tables of the money changers and the seats of those that sold doves. His wrath was because they had made HIS HOUSE a den of thieves. What were they stealing? They were stealing from each other and they were stealing from God. A place of worship had turned into nothing more than a flea market. Our church is our place of worship. It is so refreshing to step into the sanctuary. A place to find refuge and be refreshed. A place to worship in unity with other believers. A place to experience freedom in worship.

Our bodies are also the temple of God. Our heart, the place where He dwells. The Bible teaches us that out of the abundance of the mouth the heart speaks. What is in your heart? Are your words encouraging or biting? Do you speak truth or little white lies? Is there praise or cursing on your lips? Let’s clean the temple by removing things that do not honor God. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10
