David and Goliath Part A

Recently Pastor spoke about the story of David and Goliath. I have been thinking about it a lot since. If you are facing any kind of battle, this is a great story to read and be encouraged by.

We all have giants that we face in our lives. Sometimes facing those giants is a daily struggle. It can be overwhelming. I know for me, there have been times that I felt as though I just couldn't fight anymore. I felt as though all the strength I had was diminished. There have been times that I have just wanted to throw in the towel and give up. But what good does that do? Because then, the enemy wins and the battle I have fought so far was for nothing.

Battles are never easy. Especially when we're not prepared for them. David wasn't prepared to face a giant. He was just a shepherd boy, not a warrior. I'm sure that he was afraid, everyone else was. They refused to even try to face this giant. But David allowed his faith in God to be stronger than his fear. He knew that he was not fighting this battle alone. He didn't need to be prepared. He didn't need armor and a sword. All David needed to defeat his giant, was his faith and a slingshot. It almost sounds too easy right?

Something I have learned in the many battles I have fought and am still fighting, is that I can't fight them alone. Like David, I am small compared to the giants I face. I'm not a warrior. I am learning to have faith though. I am learning to have faith in the fact that I am not alone in my battles, that I have a God that fights for me. It's through faith that I will have victory. I may not be there yet, but I am getting there.
