Freedom

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” - Galatians 5:1.There are three things that speak to us about freedom in this passage. The blood of Christ has given us a firm foundation, freedom from sin, and broken the hold of our past.

We can stand on our foundation in Christ Jesus. He is the chief cornerstone, our shield, and redeemer. These truths about Jesus are the key to true joy and contentment. When life drags us down and storms beat us up we can turn our eyes to Jesus! “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” - Hebrews 12:2

The Son of God provided the perfect sacrifice to free us from sin. He came from heaven, a humble servant, born of a virgin, and lived a perfect life for us. His death on a cross and defeat of the grave makes our freedom from sin possible. If you are reading this and you have been saved from the depths of sin, give Him praise! Maybe you are reading this and you are still living in bondage to your sin. Christ can save you right now, wherever you are at. Call out to Him, trust in Christ, and you will be saved!! “And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” - John 8:35-36

We can’t live our lives looking in the rearview mirror. Our past failures, mistakes, and sin have been forgiven. We must press on and look to the grace that has covered us. Proverbs 26:11 tells us, “As a dog returns to his vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.” We

have a new song in our hearts. There should be no turning back. We have the blessed assurance that is only found in Christ.
