Freedom Makes a Spectacle of Our Foes

One of my favorite stories of freedom takes place in the book of Exodus. The Hebrew children had been enslaved in Egypt for over 400 years when God brings about their deliverance. We see them walk out of Egypt, the joy and excitement, only to find out Pharaoh had changed his mind. The pursuit was on, his chariots were blazing a trail to drag them right back to slavery. They were trapped, Pharaoh coming from the rear, and the sea ahead of them. What had happened to their promise of freedom?

Pharaoh might have changed his mind, but God had not. The sea split, they walked on dry land, and the very obstacle causing fear, became a tool for deliverance and destroyed the enemy. God has promised all of us freedom, but it doesn’t mean the journey will come without a battle. The peace in the midst of an enemy going after your promise, is knowing He parts the sea every time we step out and trust Him. Fear and terror gave way to awe and wonder, the threat was an invitation for a miracle. Be encouraged today that God has freed us, when the enemy comes against us the Lord steps in. He parts the waters, He moves the mountains and He makes a spectacle out of our foes every time. Don’t let the rumble of chariots fill you with fear, a mighty wind is coming and making a way. Step onto that dry land, and into the miracle of freedom. You can trust Him!

Exodus 14:13-14

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
