Give the Gift of Forgiveness

If we boast of being a child of God, forgiveness will be our greatest gift to others. Forgiveness is at the heart of our relationship with Jesus Christ. How can we boast of that relationship and withhold the one thing that brings the heart of God closest to us? We should be willing to extend the same forgiveness that God has given us.

Instead of anger and bitterness we choose joy and peace. To hurt and be hurt is a human trait. We will hurt each other but we don’t have to stay in a place of pain. Choosing to forgive heals both you and the other person. Choose restoration and life abundant. Choose forgiveness.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Matthew 5:7

Brothers and sisters, even if a person is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual are to restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you are not tempted as well. Galatians 6:1

But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you pray for those who are abusive to you. Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic from him either. Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours do not demand it back. Treat people the same way you want them to treat you. Luke 6:27-31

Hebrews 13:16 tells us not to neglect doing good. Forgiveness is a good thing and good things please God. Give the gift of joy and peace. Choose to give forgive.
