He Lived and Died to Buy My Pardon
When I hear this, I think of the Bill Gaither song, “Because He Lives”. God sent His Son; they call Him Jesus. He came to love, heal, and forgive. He bled and died to buy my pardon. An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.
Jesus did this because He loved me so much, He didn’t want me to go to hell and wanted me forever in heaven. He gives us the choice though to except this gift or refuse it. When we are pardoned, we can never be punished for the forgiven offense and should not be penalized for having a record of the crime. That sin is cast as far as the East is to the West.
John 3: 16-17 tells us exactly what He did and how He did it. When I think that He lived 33 ½ years on earth and every breath He took was so I would have a chance to be pardoned for my sins, I start weeping.
That He died a horrific death on the cross, but the most brutal act was when God turned His back on His son which bought my pardon. As we enter this month of celebration of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, let us remember everything that happened was to buy our pardon, will we accept it.
I pray I remember this each day and not just as Easter approaches. I am PARDONED!
