Headed in the Wrong Direction

“The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai: “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.” But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.”

Jonah 1:1-3 NIV

Today what is on my heart is to speak on obedience. This word almost puts a bad taste in our mouth. I know my generation wants nothing to do with what they are being told to do. We blame the situation, blame others and try our best to make it not our concern. But why?

Like Jonah God has given us a command, but are we listening? We have traded devotion and serving, for selfish desires and apathy. I know this is not what you would like to be reading right now but if the direction does not change our road will be like the story of Jonah. We either honor God’s glory or we understand God’s power in the storm. Why does our obedience matter? Because waiting on the other side of our obedience is a revival. Gods called us to bring Heaven to earth. To clean out the temple and make it a place of worship and prayer. This is the will of God. Will it take work? Yes. Will we have to address our motives? Yes. What is at stake? A generation, our generation.

One thing I know is you can’t ignore God and going in the wrong direction only gives you a ride in the belly of a whale. Let’s join together and be the answer. Let’s meet God at His command and see His glory rain down revival. On the other side of obedience is the glory of the Lord.
