Honor God By Giving Your Best

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ. Colossians 3:23-24 (NLT)

And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. Colossians 3:17 (NLT)

Often in this busy world it is not difficult to lose our focus on the big picture and who we represent 24/7. Sometimes we get tired and do a task just enough to get by. It may be at work, it may be in a relationship, may be at school or any other thing that you are called to do. How would we do these things if Jesus was our employer, or friend, or teacher? These two passages of scripture above make it clear……whatever we are doing, we are doing it as a representative of the Lord and there is a reward attached that is eternal.

Growing up my dad would give us three children a needed pep talk from time to time. Dad would tell us to do and be our best. It didn’t mean we will always be the best, but it was possible to be our best. Dad would say, “you have my name, and you represent me, don’t forget who you are.” Our heavenly Father had already said that to His children. In everything you do, people are watching you as a Christian and deciding what your Heavenly Father is like? Do you do your best? Do you go the extra mile, are you the same in public as you are in private, do you serve people or yourself, are you striving to be the best employee, family member, loving those that are challenging to love? Are you the best representative of your heavenly father that you can be?

Honor God by being and doing your best and look forward to the inheritance He has planned for you.
