Honor God Today

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they were created and have their being.”

Revelation 4:10-11

To honor is to hold in high respect, reverence, and distinction.

In our society we honor certain individuals because of their position. There are biblical instructions for whom we should esteem in this manner. For some examples, Deuteronomy 5:16 states that we are to honor our parents. Leviticus 19:32 encourages us to honor the elderly and 1 Peter 2:13 tells us to honor those who are our leaders or rule. But there are many Bible verses that tell us to honor God and shows us how to do it!

Here are a few basic ways to honor God.

1. Honor God with your body or your temple - 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

2. Honor God with your time – Time…How are you using the time you have been given to glorify God?

Psalms 144:4

3. Honor God with your heart. There are many Bible verses that encourage us to make God number one in our heart.

Isaiah 29:13

Proverbs 3:5

Proverbs 4:23

Proverbs 23:26

Psalms 51:10

4. Honor God with speech –

Psalms 50:23 says Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me; and to him that ordereth his or her conversation aright will I show the salvation of God.

Colossians 4:6 Let your conversation be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer every man.

Matthew 12:36 But I sat to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgement.

Today begin by acknowledging and honoring God!
