Honor Your Spouse

The day has finally come, its here at last, yesterday is now my past.

Today I start my life, with an angel for my wife.

These are the words I wrote for the first line of the song I sang to Julia at our wedding. I will never forget the look on her face as I sang those words. The Bible says in Proverbs 18:22, and the two will become one flesh, so they are no longer two, but one flesh.

If you truly believe the Bible, then why would anyone want to bring dishonor to their spouse. Jokes that make your spouse look bad, speaking to them harshly or maybe not supporting them brings dishonor. These are just a few of things that can be dishonoring to your spouse, and thus dishonoring to yourself also. Ephesians 5:28 says, So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife, loveth himself. God went on to say in verse 33, that the wife see that she reverence her husband.

God’s words, God’s plan. There are many places in the Bible that let us know His plan. Following that plan brings honor to Him, others and yourself!
