How Deep Are Your Roots! Part 1

Every strong and beautiful flower must have a strong root in the ground. It must send a root down so that it may be rooted and grounded while at the same time it sends a shoot up to be the flower that shall gladden the world with its beauty. Both growths are necessary. Without a strong root, it would soon wither. Without roots, a plant cannot be stable. In fact, if roots don’t develop, neither does a plant. The higher the growth upward, the deeper the rooting system must be. Our lives cannot flower into success and fullness unless it is rooted in a strong faith. Like a plant, our faith in Christ is rooted in Christ’s love and grace. God wants His followers rooted. We all know from basic botany that a seed needs three main components to grow: • Water, • Warmth • & Good Soil. Likewise in Christ, in order for the seed of the Word to grow and take root, we need to allow our hearts to be the good soil that receives the seed. We need the warmth of patience as we wait on the seed to take root and we need to water that seed with our faith. As long as we provide the right conditions, the power in His Seed will do the rest.

Let your roots grow deep. Deep roots make for a strong plant, deep roots are able to draw nourishment as needed, deep roots stabilize us through all sorts of trials and obstacles found in daily life. We can’t live a Christian life through our own power and strength. We need the power of the Holy Spirit and the love and grace of God to walk out our faith. When we feel tempted…we ask for the strength at that moment to overcome (1 Cor 10:13). When we feel overwhelmed and worried… we reach out for peace (Romans 15:13). When we don’t know what to do… we reach out for wisdom (Ephesians 1:17). Moment by moment…day by day… decision by decision… we remain tapped in, rooted, and connected to God.
