How Deep Are Your Roots? Part 2

How can we nurture our “Root System” in Christ??? Colossians 2:6-7 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. 1. Read, study, and receive. It all begins with His Word. It is difficult to walk with Jesus. We won’t know how to walk with Him if we don’t know what the Bible has to say about daily living. If, in your reading, you come across a verse that speaks to you, or corrects you, then consider it an opportunity to grow and become rooted. 2. Do what the Word of God says. -“Walking with Him” is really about obeying and doing His Word. When we line up our actions and hearts to what His Word says. This is where the growth begins to happen, this is how the fruit begins to develop. There are no shortcuts around this process. 3. Develop your prayer life in His Presence. When we pray, our faith waters the seed of His Word. There are so many incidences in our lives where, no matter how hard we try, we can’t make something just happen, but when we pray…..there is breakthrough! Prayer ushers in His Power! Prayer is also where we practice patience. Instead of ‘doing’ and ‘striving’, through prayer, we patiently wait for God to show up in our circumstances. As I can testify this part is hard. As we do these things, our root system strengthens and grows, something God desires for all of us. In the crazy days of life we tend to slack but be and stay strong. We can always use a stable root system that keeps us grounded. I know I can. How about you? Read Ephesians 3:16-19 Become Rooted….Set aside some time daily to read His word and pray. Happy Rooting!
