Learning to be Content

“When you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when your host comes he may say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at table with you. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” - Luke 14:10-11 ESV

When we are in a position considered low by the world we must remember that God has us there for a reason. We must trust in His sovereignty and be content in the season that He has us in. Each circumstance and position has a purpose in our lives. True joy is found when we are content with what God has given us, the ministry He allows us to serve in and the people He has given us to serve with.

Jesus is not teaching good manners. He is teaching a lifestyle that develops meekness, humility and a mind that esteems others better than ourselves.

“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.” - Philippians 2:3 ESV
