Love that is Eternal

Several years ago I was asked to officiate a lady's memorial service. Since she had been in dementia care for some time in another state, I had not known her. Pondering what to say, it seemed the common theme when referring to the little lady was "she was always so loving." The one thing she never forgot was love!

God gave His own Son because of eternal love! Most everyone can quote John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Think of it! God, the Creator of the entire universe loved so much He gave his ONLY Son that man could have eternal life!

All of us have family members, friends, possessions, even pets that are precious to us. What would we be willing to give in exchange for any one of them? God's love was purposed that anyone believing in Jesus (God's own Son) would not perish but have eternal life! Think of it! What a loving Heavenly Father! His love is the only thing in the entire universe that is entirely perfect!

Eternal simply means there is no end! God is eternal and so is His love for you and me. He wants us to have His love and freedom--it's a free gift just for the taking! It's as easy as saying, "Lord Jesus, I have sinned and need forgiveness. Come into my heart and life." 1 John 1:9 assures us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Maybe you need a "refreshing" of God's Love. No matter how far away you may have walked from God's love, the return trip is only one step!

February is often referred to as "Love Month." There's no better time to experience Love that is eternal!
