Love That is Priceless

The characteristics of love are priceless and fundamental to the satisfaction of any relationship. Some of the most important characteristics of love are acceptance, caring, and concern.

Song of Solomon 8:7 NLB reminds us "Many waters cannot quench love, neither can rivers drown it. If a man tried to buy love with everything he owned he couldn't do it." Trying to buy, steal or force love is impossible because love is a gift!

As individuals we are unable to buy or sell love! We can only receive or give it. All the more, God's love is priceless and received as a gift.

Think about God accepting man in his sinful state and offering forgiveness and freedom! There is no way to place a value on that! "So if the SON sets you free, you will be free indeed." John 8:36 NIV

"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay own his life for his friends." John 15:13 KJV. God cared so much that He gave is own SON for mankind. In John 15, Jesus is reminding the disciples of His Father's love when He exhorted them to "love one another" in the same manner.

In a world where there is much selfishness, people often ignore concern for people around them. Many have a "what's in it for me" attitude. Several years ago, the "WWJD" bracelets were popular. Have we forgotten "What would Jesus do?"

Webster's dictionary defines concern as "to relate to or involve" someone. How much value should be placed on others? Jesus gave the command "Love each other as I have loved you,“ John 15:23 KJV. Should we not have concern for those around us? Who can we show love to today? Smile at someone, speak to an elderly person, call a shut-in, pat a pet, acknowledge a child. Each of these take minimal time and cost but are priceless to another person!
