Our Freedom in Jesus Christ

When Jesus revealed himself as the Messiah, He said that He had come to earth to “proclaim freedom.” Luke 4:18 – The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.

And on another occasion, He said, “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36

Jesus was not setting us free to do whatever we wanted, He was freeing us to do what we ought to do. He was liberating us to walk in relationship with God and to be the kind of godly people He created us to be. This spiritual freedom in Jesus Christ is on the inside of us…this really is called “inside freedom.” This is the ability to obey (obey means to listen AND do) God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and choose His very will daily for all of us to live a victorious life. As we submit to God, sin loses its power…Christ’s power takes over.

The key is…as we choose to trust and follow Jesus, our sinful habits, thoughts, and attitudes lose their control. Guilt disappears and peace of mind dominates. Doing the right thing becomes the norm. That is real freedom and liberty.

Key verses:

Isaiah 26:3 He will keep you in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him or God.

Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Today, stay focused on God and His word! Get it in you each and every day!!
