Peace in the Storm
I cried unto the lord with my voice; and he heard me out of his holy hill
I laid me down and slept; I awaked for the Lord sustained me. Psalm 3:4,5
When I read this Psalm, I again remember one of the many times God came to our rescue. Pulling a large heavy travel trailer across the Colorado mountains, the transmission in our car decided to die. We had enough money to get home to Missouri, but not to get the transmission replaced or buy another car. We pulled into a nearby trailer park, put the kids to bed and spent most of the night talking to God. Morning came. We hooked on to the trailer and the transmission worked fine all the way home. The Lord had sustained us.
My brother-in-law owned a car lot and he sold the car for us after we got home. He told the buyer about the trouble with the transmission. The man just laughed. A few days later he returned to the lot and said the transmission quit and when they tried to fix it, it was in so many pieces it couldn’t be repaired. We had asked God to get us home, not fix the car.
I can’t even remember the many times God answered prayer. Whether in a service or on the road he was always ready and willing to answer our cry. Are you in a situation and don’t know what to do? Cry out to Jesus. He has the answer. Matthew 8:24 A storm arose when Jesus and the disciples were at sea. They cried out to Him and he rebuked the wind and waves. Just one word from the master and the sea was calm. What a great feeling when he whispers,” Peace be still.”
What a great God we serve!
