Peace in the Storm
This last week all around the area, school began back up. I found myself in a new position that with it can come a lot of stress, and certainly a lot of things to learn. Many of us find times in our lives whether it is a new job or just a situation where we feel like we are living in chaos or just burdened by stress. These moments of “storms” in our lives are unavoidable. It is just the nature of the world that we live in now to find ourselves surrounded like this. When we look back at the story of Jesus and the disciples riding in the boat in the midst of a terrible storm, we see Jesus asleep through it. In order to be asleep, you must find peace within. You see Jesus knows who is in control of the storm and how it turns out in the end. Unfortunately, we as humans don't always have that information as we are going through the storms of life, and so don’t always find peace within them. There are multiple instances where we are reassured in the Bible…
2 Thessalonians 3:16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.
John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
These are just a few of those instances that you can find. I encourage you, as you face and navigate the storms of life, turn to the Word of God and find the comfort and reassurance that you need. When we press into his Word, and learn deeper into our relationship with him, we begin to find a deeper peace through our storms of life.
Be Blessed,
Pastor Brandon
