Run to Safety
Two young foals stood by the fence as I walked on the country road toward them. I talked softly to them and picked some grass from the ditch to hold out for them. When I got within six feet of these lovely creatures, they took off running to their mothers. The foals didn’t even wait to smell the grass that I was holding out to them.
The foals ran the hundred yards to their mothers for protection and guidance since they didn’t know whether I was a danger or not. They didn’t move from their mother’s side until I had walked on down the road. The mothers just continued to eat the grass as my presence didn’t cause them any concern.
I’ve had occasions when people held out information about God that they said was truth. When the information was different or new to me, I ran to God for his guidance. He was and still is always close by when I need Him. He has been faithful to help me learn the truth about Him. Also, when I’ve been told tidbits about people that didn’t seem correct to me, I sought God’s knowledge and insight.
Seeking God’s wisdom helps prevent me from believing false information.
“The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. The LORD watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever.” Psalm 145:18-21 (NIV)
