Servant's Heart

1 Peter 4:10

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.

Matthew 20:28

Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

How many times during the day, do we intentionally use our gifts and talents that God has given us to serve those around us? Now I am not asking about your work, or other obligations you have, I am talking about the times when it is truly out of the kindness of our hearts to go and help others without thought. You see out of our heart has to come Christ’s love and compassion for those around us. Jesus came to Earth to serve and give his life. He came to provide us an example on how to live. We have to let the love and compassion come out of us. But we have to pause for a moment and ask ourselves what is truly in our heart. It is easy to say it and think it, but it is a whole other thing to give up our time out of our busy schedule, alter our plans, change our route, and completely think of others and their needs first. Jesus lived that way here on Earth and challenged us to do the same. Take time today in your small moments and look around you, think and ponder, and see how you can serve just one today. Tomorrow, do it again and let that fire to serve and bless others grow within you until it becomes our daily lifestyle.
