Tell Your Face

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

I recently accompanied Kendra and the two kids to the doctor’s office. Corbin had an appointment to see the audiologist and Kenlee and I were in the waiting room. The appointment was supposed to be quick. However, there were some concerns and they had Kendra stay longer to run some additional tests on Corbin. It became lengthy and Kenlee was restless. I took her outside to sit on a bench in front of the building to get some fresh air.

Kenlee decided she needed to be the building greeter and proceeded to say “Hi” to everyone that entered the building. It was actually quite humorous to watch. There was not a single person approaching the building that wasn’t frowning. This did not stop my sweet and kind hearted Kenlee. She spoke even though they were not looking up. Everytime she said “Hi”, I saw a smile light up on every person’s face and they said “Good Morning” back to her. I watched as the smile did not fade but they continued to smile as they entered the building and went to their respective doctor’s appointments. I was amazed at how sad people looked yet how quickly a small gesture seemed to turn their day around. Oh, I know not to judge. Life is hard and everyone is fighting some kind of battle. I can’t even begin to imagine what the people Kenlee met that day were going through. BUT—I do know that her smile and kind word changed the course their day.

Nehemiah 8:10 tells us, the joy of the Lord is your strength. It is true we all face battles. Some will even knock you down but with the Lord on your side you will have the strength to get back up. The joy found in the salvation of the Lord will act as a fortress from our troubles during the day. Use this joy to motivate you to take a step forward and stand against the devil. There may be trouble in your path but don’t let him steal your joy. Oh, and don’t forget to tell your face! A smile goes a long way!

With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. Isaiah 12:3
