The Blood Has Purchased Your Freedom

What does it meant to be free? The ability to walk around without the chains of life dragging you down. The weights and burdens that slow every step you take gone! Your mind being clear so that your every thought is pleasing to God. Helping others when you them in need. These are a few of things I think about when I think of freedom.

How do you get there? In our history and even in the Bible, people were sold into slavery. Their freedom lost. Freedom had to be purchased. Each of us was born into sin. Sin has enslaved us.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

You might say we were born into slavery. How can we ever be free? First, we must be forgiven of our sins. What happened that gave us the ability to be forgiven? The Bible says in Hebrews 9:22, Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. The Bible is telling us there is only one way to gain our freedom, “the blood”.

For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ. 1 Peter 1:18-19

“Empty way of life”, sound like being a slave to me!

In Him we have redemption through his BLOOD, the forgiveness of sins. Ephesians 1:7

The blood that Jesus shed on Calvary to take away our sins is the way to freedom. The blood that was shed takes away our sins and bondage is given to us freely, all we have to do is ask for forgivness. Sounds like we need to stay covered by the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It gives us FREEDOM!
