The Choice of Forgiving

In the Lord’s divine order in life, He has given us free will, which means He has granted us the ability to make choices. We make hundreds of choices every day. The most important decision you will ever make in your life is choosing to become a child of God and asking Jesus to be the leader of your life. Once you have become a child of God, then some of the choices you made before Jesus will and should be different than what they were before.

Most likely one of the most difficult choices you will have to make is to forgive someone who has wronged you or has done wrong to someone you care about. But forgiving others is the very heart of God and what he does for us and as followers of Christ, we are to forgive those who have done wrong to us.

If we choose not to forgive, then we are allowing the enemy to plant seeds of bitterness, which will eventually lead to hatred if not plucked out of our lives and hatred is completely against what Jesus is, which is Love. Additionally, when we make the choice to forgive first and not wait, then we are now able to walk in the freedom of knowing we have done what is required of us by God then healing in your life will begin by your obedience to His Word.

“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly father will also forgive you.” Matthew 6:14
