The Heart of Our Father

Matthew 20:27-28 tells us, “And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

God is not concerned with pride because He’s worried about His dignity. He knows that pride threatens to destroy, and it separates us from Him. If we operate in our own strength, we forget our great need for Him. He wants us to know Him. He wants our lives to be directed entirely to Him. We cannot serve the Lord and serve ourselves. As Christ was humble so should we be. Humility was at the heart of God’s plan of salvation for us. Paul’s reminder in 1 Corinthians 13:13, “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love,” was a reminder that without love our spiritual gifts would not profit. The Corinthians wanted to use their gifts for their own personal edification. The attitude of building up self and not others, damages the body. The Heart of our Father is looking for hearts that serve as His Son did. Hearts that are willing to sacrifice and put others first as He did.
