The Honeycomb

Pleasant words are a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

Proverbs 16:24 (NASB)

Kind words are like honey; they are easy to accept and good for your health.

Proverbs 16:24 (ERV)

I love this verse, and I love that Pastor Julia teaches our children that kind words are like honey because this is something that we need to learn as a nation. Whoever made up the saying sticks and stones will break your bones, but words will never heart lied to us all because words hurt our soul.

As Christians, we need to become very aware of the words we are saying, posting on social media, or texting and make sure they are pleasing to the Lord. Our words should be kind and uplifting because we never know whom God has put in our path. Words are powerful, and we need to not only be kind to others but ourselves.

In the youth group, we talked about the loose language used now, and nobody seems to care if it hurts others. Our “jokes” still hurt even if the other person is laughing. As Christians, we must change how we talk, text, or post on social media, and it should always reflect the Lord. I challenge you to think on your words and become very aware of how you interact with others. Words hurt, so make your words sweet and good for the soul.
