1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”
It is easy to look at this scripture and apply it to the lives of others. We remind each other that a spirit of fear doesn’t come from the Lord and we’re not supposed to live in fear. The reality is that many live in fear. Our world is full of the unknown and that unknown tends to breed fear. It is not just as simple as declaring that people live without fear.
If we look at this scripture a little closer, we see the solution. Perfect love casts out fear. It is the love of Christ that overcomes the enemy in our lives. The boldness that we have to serve the Lord and stand for the Gospel of Jesus Christ comes from His love that is perfected in us. I John 4 reminds us that fear is from the enemy and that the greatest weapon we have against it is the love of Jesus. During the most frightening season, Christ’s love is available and ready to carry us through. We can reach out to the Savior and grab ahold of His perfect love and trust in His faithfulness.
