Two Kinds of People (Part 2)

We discussed how the righteous and wicked are contrasted but we did not discuss that the way of the righteous is blessed. Merriam Webster defines blessed as have pleasure, contentment and fortune. We all long to be happy and have financial blessing but contentment is the joy of life. We sing a song that says, the joy of the Lord is my strength. Remember that tree firmly planted by the rivers of water? Unshakable. That is contentment. Having God’s perspective on life. That is contentment. The way of the righteous is blessed…contentment.

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.

The wicked are not so, But they are like chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

For the Lord knows the way of the righteous. But the way of the wicked will perish. Psalm 1

The separation between the righteous and the ungodly will continue through eternity. Are you seeking contentment in your life? You will find it in the “law of the Lord”. I encourage you to faithfully seek God and let His Word speak life to your Spirit.
