When God Speaks

The year 1975, I woke up in the middle of the night to these words: “You will have to stand on my Word.” I said, “O.K. Lord” and went back to sleep. The next words came as soon as my feet touched the floor that morning and it was, “You will have to stand on my Word!” That got my attention, I said, “O.K. Lord, I don’t know what this is about, but I’d better get in your Word!”

You see everything was going really good, John had jobs lined up for months. That very week John came home from working on a job, very upset. He said, “Honey, I don’t know what I’m going to do, every job has been cancelled. The interest at the banks as gone up so high no one is getting loans.”

So, we prayed and read God’s Word. He is so faithful. For the next 6 months He supplied just enough work for John to keep our lights on and the bank let us pay the interest on our home loan to let us keep our place. Through kind people we kept food on the table. No, we didn’t get help from the Government! We trusted God’s Word! After 6 months, God blessed John with a wonderful job making more money than ever before. When God speaks, listen and obey, because He can take you through all things.

Determined to Follow Jesus

And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whiter thou goest, I will go and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people and they God my God. Ruth 1:156 KJV

I love the story of Ruth and Naomi. I love how Ruth wanted to stay with Naomi even though Naomi wanted her to return to her own people. I pray that will be my determination in following after Jesus. I want to be willing to go and do whatever He has in store for me. I thank God for my praying mother and grandmother who only wanted the best for me just like Jesus does.
