White Bread

My friend, Annie, has a relative who is trying to take good care of his physical body. He swims laps or jogs daily, uses a juicer to have fresh vitamin filled drinks, and doesn’t eat any junk food. This regimen seems to be working well for him, as he is in excellent health.

Annie admires her relative for his discipline, although, he is adamant in thinking that his lifestyle is the “only” way. One morning at breakfast, Annie was fixing herself a piece of toast, when her relative said, “You’re not going to eat white bread, are you?!” The implication was “how can you be so stupid.”

We each need to be confident of the lifestyle God has directed us to follow and yet, at the same time, not look down on others for their lifestyle. I find that following what I am to do is a big enough job without trying to take on the responsibility of another person.

I am to follow God’s directions for me and allow others to follow God to the best of their ability.

“Walk in all the way that the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.” Deuteronomy 5:33 (NIV)
