The Rock

In Children’s Church the kids love to sing songs and my daughter frequently chooses her favorite song. It never fails that many times the song she enjoys singing is one I need to hear. She recently started singing The Wise Man Built His House Upon the Rock. I was quickly reminded of Matthew 7:24-27,

24 Therefore, whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, who built his house upon a rock. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell not; for it was founded upon a rock. 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon the house, and it fell not; for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand. 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it.

I am reminded that I need to continually dig into The Word and not only read to mark off my daily devotion but I need to put what I have read into practice so that I have my foundation on The Solid Rock. I do not want to be caught in a storm and my house be swept away. I encourage you today to build your house on The Rock so you can be prepared for any storm that comes your way.
