The Weather App

I have the KY 3 weather app on my phone and it is a wonderful tool. There is this voice that comes on my phone and tells me when a storm is approaching. It will also tell me if lighting has been detected in my area and when it is about to rain. I will never forget the first time I heard that voice. It was in the middle of the night and you might say that my fear came upon me! I sat straight up in the bed and was sure someone had entered my room. A similar thing has happened to me before, but with a different voice. Many times, it has happened to me in the midst of a storm. The storms that happen in life. A still small voice has spoken to me in the middle of the night. I have been to

Today, Do I go to a Counselor or Do I Go to The Counselor

Daily people are looking for answers to their various questions in life. As a follower of Jesus Christ our answers are summed up in one source or one book...the Bible. Verses to build on today. 1. Thy word is a lamp to my feet, And a light to my path. Psalms 119:105 2. Jesus said, come and follow me. Matthew 4:19 3. God is my wonderful Counselor. Isaiah 9:6 4. You will guide me with your counsel. Psalms 73:24 5. The Lord of Hosts is wonderful in counsel and excellence in guidance. Isaiah 28:29 6. I will ask the Father and He will give you another Counselor or Helper to be with you. John 14:16 7. Your testimonies are my delight and Counselor. What we believe about G

Tell Your Face

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 I recently accompanied Kendra and the two kids to the doctor’s office. Corbin had an appointment to see the audiologist and Kenlee and I were in the waiting room. The appointment was supposed to be quick. However, there were some concerns and they had Kendra stay longer to run some additional tests on Corbin. It became lengthy and Kenlee was restless. I took her outside to sit on a bench in front of the building to get some fresh air. Kenlee decided she needed to be the building greeter and proceeded to say “Hi” to everyone that entered the building. It was actually quite humorous to watch. There was

If You Can't See The Future...Rely on God!

“He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.” (Psalm 25:9) The Bible says there are several things we need to do to receive guidance from God, but the very first thing is this: We need to admit we need a guide! Most of the time we don’t want to follow God or anybody else. We want to go our own way. We don’t want to admit we need direction or that we need a guide. Sheep, by nature, tend to wander off the path. The Prophet Isaiah says, “All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own” (Isaiah 53:6 ). Another thing about sheep is that they have poor vision. They can’t see very far ahead. That’s why they need a shepherd. God made us so tha

If You Knew What I Know

How many times have you heard someone say, “If you only knew what I know.” Would that make a difference in the way you felt about someone or something? Maybe so. Gossip, what an ugly thing. God said in Proverbs 18:21, Death and life are in the power of the tongue. I want to choose life. I believe that as Christians there are so many things we can tell others that will bring them life. DID YOU KNOW that Jesus healed the blind man? He has the power to do the same thing for you. If you are blind and can’t see, He will open your eyes and show you which way you should go. Psalm 37:23 says, the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. DID YOU KNOW that God rescued a man named Daniel

Live a Life Worthy of the Call

“And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son, and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come. Again he sent other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "See, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast."' But they paid no attention and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. T

Pray'n Through #1

I have a niece who was moving up to a really small town in the mountains and since she likes to be alone, I was concerned about her future. I was afraid that she might revert to the “old ways and habits”. It weighted heavy in my heart and spirit so I went to church early and went to the front of the cross. I stayed until I prayed through and I knew, that I knew, that I knew, God had heard and answered. My niece did go through a rough time but God was stronger and in His grace and mercy brought her through. She is stronger than ever and doing well. God has provided jobs for her. She house and animal sits for extra money and she is back into her art work as well. Thank you Lord!

What is a Stronghold?

Stronghold....Greek word oc-he-roma; this is one of the oldest words used in the New Testament and was originally used to describe a fortress or prison. We could thus say it this way: "to the pulling down of fortresses and prisons". 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 Both are correct and convey two powerful messages to us regarding strongholds. A stronghold is like fortress or a "fortified place". Fortresses have exceptionally thick powerful high walls that are impregnable in order to keep outsiders from breaking in. They were built this way in order to keep intruders out. A stronghold acts not only like a fortress but like a prison as well. In other words, those same walls that keep other people from ge

God's Masterpiece

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14 I love this verse because it is very clear that we are not a product of random choice but chosen by The Great I Am. We were created for a specific purpose and this verse says we are fearfully and wonderfully made. We are God's Masterpiece. He had a blank canvas and decided that we were the perfect work of art for his canvas. We should wake up each morning and praise him because he chose us to be His creation. I encourage you to really dive into God’s Word to see how loved we really are. In Genesis 1:26 it says, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness”. If you re

Spiritual Heritage

What is the great Spiritual Heritage God has given us? Before we can grasp this we must understand the heritage of destruction God has saved us from. Only then can we appreciate the spiritual treasure awaiting us through our relationship with Him. Romans 5:6 You see at just the right time, when we were powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Isaiah 64:6 All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags ,we all shrivel up like a leaf and like the wind our sins sweep us away. We are helpless and our attempts at morality don’t measure up to God’s standard of holiness and perfection. It’s like using an oily rag to polish fine china. Romans 3:23 Al

How Will Our Decisions Affect Others?

One of the biggest mistakes we make in life is forgetting how much our actions influence the people around us. Every day we are tempted to make decisions that may be the best thing for us but could have a devastating affect on the people around us. If we want to make wise decisions, we need to ask, “Will our choice harm other people?” That’s the opposite of our culture. Our culture teaches us to think only of ourselves. But God expects us to think more of others than we do ourselves. In fact, the Bible says that one day we’re going to be judged by God on how our decisions affected other people. Romans 14:12-13 says, “Each of us will give an account of himself to God. Try to live in such a wa

Commit Your Concerns

The Lord has been teaching me lately in the version of a question. When my mind begins to race and I consider things I have no control over, things that concern me, I hear His voice. “Have I called you to worry, or commanded you to pray?” That changes everything. What more could I do? What act would be greater? Even if the things concerning me were in my power to change, who has more wisdom on what should be done? Jesus, or myself? Who has all power, all knowledge, all authority? Who knows all the answers, how things should play out, what move would be best? Jesus. How do I gain insight? Pray. How do I shift things supernatural as a human being? Pray. It is the most powerful thing I can do,

God is Our Safe Place

Psalm 71:3 – “Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.” God’s plans are big, risky, scary plans when we look at them with our natural eyes. Whether it’s giving beyond our “budget”, talking to a stranger, standing against a law that contradicts the Word of God, or leaving everything behind to “go to the land that I will show you” (Genesis 12:1), God’s plans for us can intimidate us. Every time God uses someone in a big way, it requires a risk on his or her part. When we encounter risk, we can begin to make a litany of excuses as to why the plan is not a good idea. Moses tried that. “I’m not a good speaker, Lord. Ho

Then I said to you, ‘Do not be in dread or afraid of them. The LORD your God who goes before you will himself fight for you, just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes, and in the wilderness, where you have seen how the LORD your God carried you, as a man carries his son, all the way that you went until you came to this place.’ Deuteronomy 1:29-31 As a teacher, I witnessed first hand the influence of a “father” figure in the lives of children. In the public school, many programs were started so that the children would have the influence of men in their lives. Our school district started the “Watch Dog” program. Men of the community or stable dads that have had proper background che

Never Forsaken

When your sad, angry, hurt or broken, there is pain in that offering. Through your suffering there is a reward and a breakthrough. When you don't think he hears or sees he is ever vigilant. When you are broken, you are more willing to cry out, to break chains, and give up things. When you are angry it blocks and sets up barriers between you and God. God gave us free will and he wants you to ask him but he will not take that from you. He will wait outside the barrier watching and waiting to reunite with you. He longs for the anger to subside but he doesn't leave, he doesn't forsake you. He keeps His eyes upon you. So, which road will you choose today? Joy, sorrow, anger? God is ever vigilant

We were just recently at Roaring River fishing and camping. During our trips to this beautiful place, I personally love sitting and observing God’s creation. As I was sitting and taking in the peaceful noises of nature, I heard a startling loud noise. I began to try and figure out where the loud noise was coming from. I looked around and found a group of young boys cheering as another boy was reeling in a fish. I began thinking about what makes people so excited that they cheer loud enough to startle someone. As I thought about it my heart began to ache. The world tells us to get excited about home runs, championships, touchdowns, goals, and even knocking someone out in boxing. The Bible tel

The Purpose of the Baptism of The Holy Spirit

In this lesson you will learn what the baptism of the Holy Spirit is, what happens when you receive it, the purpose for it, and why you should allow the rivers of living water to flow out of you. I. What is the baptism of the Holy Spirit? A. Matthew 3:11 - Jesus' ministry began with John the Baptist's word, "He who is coming after me is mightier than I....He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." 1. "Baptism with the Holy Spirit" means to be immersed, filled with, overflowing with, and surrounded with the power and fire of the Holy Spirit of God. B. Luke 24:44-53 - After Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection but before His ascension. He talked to His disciples about "the

“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.” 1 John 2:16 NASB “Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling.” Proverbs 16:18 NASB The danger is real, for me the best way to explain it is like gasoline. When we take pride in our God this is healthy pride. When we take pride in all that God has done this is a testimony, a testimony of Gods favor. Gasoline is a key tool in our every day life. Without it our cars would sit unable to provide us with valuable transportation. It is being used in the way that it is designed for. One time when I was young my brother

Speaking His Orientation

The continuance of the upward calling in Christ jesus is like the profession of our faith, no matter what. The edification of our entire being benefits, unto pursuing and seeking, the very hope placed in the core of our being. Even in thwarted, frustrated, tarrying and non-appearing evidence of a promise made good; the Lord continues to be the Rock of our salvation and the Word made flesh. I shall bless Him and live and stand in the truth of His coming! I have the certainty of His disarming love, the gladness of his forgiveness, His acceptance thou unmerited, and the knowledge of His eternal kingdom! My aches and infirmities pale in the consciousness of the weight He bore for me... and that

Wonder & Why

Consider the gold miners that helped lead the expansion to the west. Did they just start digging for no reason? Of course not, they saw that someone else had an experience with it and wondered if they could share in that experience. Worship sometimes happens the same way for us. We see the experience someone is having and wonder if we can have the same thing. But until we have a relationship with Christ our Worship doesn’t have a “why”. We allow our Worship to feed off of someone else’s experience. We must pursue daily to have our own relationship so we have our own “why” for our worship. In James 4:8 the Bible tells us “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you”. As you get clos
