In the Thick of Him, Healing Pressed

When you, Beloved, guard the reverential memory and mindfulness of your Priest-King; in rising splendor of reformation, unto wholeness complete... shall you jubilantly frolick and exit your holding station. You rise above the fray and join a place of vantage, where appropriation has taken place by Your Savior, and victories await your possession. It is in the Mighty Name Of the Lord, Jesus- and His Anointing, that you shall God breath into existence the things you shall call forth. As I framed the world into being thru the spoken world, so too shall you speak those things that are not, into living reality. The God you cannot see, delights in your faith that lives, lives, LIVES!!! Malachi 4:

Every day we go through life and we don’t realize we have idols. The definition of idols is a person or thing that is greatly loved, admired, or reserved. That could mean our phones, our T.V.s, or someone we love. An idol is something that takes time away from God. In the book of Exodus, it says in chapter 20 verse 3, thou shall not have any other God’s above me. When you become the father of children and children’s children and have remained long in the land and act corruptly, and make an idol in the form of anything, and do that which is evil in the sight of the Lord your God so as to provoke Him to anger. Deuteronomy 4:24 I know from my life, I’ve made my phone or my games an idol. I

God's Love

Recently, our family went on a cruise to the Bahamas, and we spent a few nights on the open sea. One night we sat on our balcony and just looked at the vastness of the water that seemed never to end. I was reminded of Ephesians 3:14-19, the verses discuss God’s love and how we as believers may have power to grasp how wide and long and high and the depth of His love. 14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom very family in heaven and on earth derives its name, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being r

Who Jesus Is

I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6). Jesus did not merely show the way to God, He said, “I am the way.” He did not merely point to the abundant life, He said, “I am the life.” In Christianity if there is no Christ, there is no way to God, no truth about God and no life. How could Jesus make such a claim if He was only a man, but if He is who He said He is, and if He did what He said he would do, His claims are valid. Jesus claimed to be God and to have come to earth to die for our sins. We deserve to die for our own sins, but Jesus died in our place. He who was sinless accepted the guilt of our own sin and died for us. No o

Living Water

Have you ever been so thirsty that you said your mouth was full of cotton? It was then that a good cold drink tasted so good. The bad thing is, that soon you are tasting cotton again. We need water to live. Water to grow. Jesus said if you drink water from a well on earth you are going to thirst again. (John 4:13) It is the next verse that I like. But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life (Joh. 4:14). That means never die. Wouldn’t that be great? To live forever? That is what God has promised us. He is building us a place in Heaven where we can swell w

I'm Not Looking

“The dandelions with their pretty yellow blooms have popped back up,” I told my husband Larry. Spring had arrived and therefore it was time to work outside in the yard. Digging or spraying was required to prevent the weeds from squeezing out the grass. Larry and I worked together on this project. One of us dug while the other picked up the plants and put them in a trash bag. Even with working together, our backs soon tired and hurt from the constant bending over. “I’m not looking anymore,” I announced after about an hour. I knew more dandelions were hiding in the grass, but I didn’t want to bend over and deal with anymore of them. So we walked straight to the house and didn’t look down at th

Stormy Seas

In the book of Mark chapter 4 we find the story of Jesus and the disciples on their boat as a storm comes up. As the story goes, the disciples wake Jesus and he speaks to the storm is calmed. The Bible never says that we will live a storm free life, we are always going to have challenges and hard times come up. Actually, as we get closer in our walk with God the more storms and trials we will have as the devil tries to derail our relationship. I find it interesting how many times we want him to completely take the storm away in life just as he did for the disciples on the boat. In verse 40 He makes a comment to the disciples though that has sparked my thoughts. He asks them... Why are you

How to Keep From Tripping

“Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith s

A Present Help

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 Most of us have a best friend. That one person we call when we are happy or sad or disappointed or scared. A best friend is someone you can share anything. They know our secrets, they share in our victories and encourage us when we are down. It is wonderful to have a best friend. The disciples had a best friend in Jesus. They witnessed many miracles. When the disciples were discouraged he taught them through parables. He led them by example and was always there when they needed him. Yet in John 16:7 he tells them it is to their advantage for him to go away. But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage t

Trial by Design

Lord, how easily we miss Your order and steps unto. In Your plan put forth for “our” salvation, Your Son was put on trial destined to die for all our sins; and by His death and resurrection perfect atonement was made. Induction and acceptance takes place at the very moment we surrender-ask for His Lordship and believe Him and His word; hereto branding you a son, daughter, oracle, ambassador, messenger, member, dispenser of the good news of His Gospel, the Kingdom of God! Now, every trial requires the attention and clarity of mind, the strength and endurance, the faith to see you thru unto the victory-your reason and purpose proved. At every step and juncture you have His company... trusting

The Sound of the Spirit

“On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.” Acts of the Apostles 2:1-4 NLT This is going to be a little different but I want to tell my story of when I was baptized in The Holy Spirit. Youth Camp has always had a special place in my heart because that was the first time I felt the awesome power of God. And I wil

Let Your Light Shine

We have all heard the children’s song “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.” But how often do we really let that light shine, and do we fully understand the light that we are dealing with. We are talking about an eternal light that shines forth from us to let the world see the love and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us in Matthew 5:16 that we are to let our light shine to others so they can see the glory of our father in heaven. That is a pretty tall order if we step back and think about it. The only testimony that some people may have is the way that we live our life. We are watched daily by so many people in this world that want us to fail and call us hypoc

Memorizing Scripture Yes or No

The Bible has much to say about the benefits of memorizing scripture. Psalm 1:2-3 promises that a person who continually meditates upon the scriptures will prosper in whatever he or she does. Today I want you to look closely at the word prosper. Do you really realize the significance of meditating and memorizing the scriptures that God has not only give us but His benefits of prosperity in doing so. But his delight is in the law of the Lord and in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water to irrigate, which yield its fruit in its season… and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers. Psalm 1:2-3 Today take a challeng

Slow Fade

Pastor Brandon and I were gone on vacation and work for the past couple of weeks, but I loved how God used our time away to speak to us in various ways. We were in San Antonio, Texas, for a school conference, during the weekend, we drove out to my home town in West Texas to see my grandparents, who recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. As we were driving the scenery slowly changed during the five-hour drive. We started in the beautiful Hill Country with trees and wildflowers. As we went along I-10 the scenery changed to just trees, and slowly we started seeing less trees and more pump jacks. The further west we drove the more desolate and ugly the scenery got, and my children even comme

What Do You See?

“The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord delights in us, he will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land that flows with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection is removed from them, and the Lord is with us; do not fear them.” Numbers 14:7-9 The setting of the above scripture takes place during the children of Israel’s journey to the Promise Land that has been given to them by God. Moses picks 12 men, one from each of the tribes to go on a reconnaissance mission through the land that they are to settle in. The chosen team spends 40 days

To Strive For

“To cut down on mistakes, it’s best to copy and paste when transferring data from one program to another one,” my boss Steve instructed. “Statistics show that a person normally makes five mistakes per 100 keystrokes when working on computers.” Later in the week while correcting a couple of mistakes I had made, I told another employee, “Well, I haven’t made my five mistakes yet today.” “Helen, that is not supposed to be a quota you are striving for,” Steve commented when he over-heard me. His comment gave me and the office employees pause for laughter and reflection. In thinking about Steve’s comment, I realized our society pushes us to strive for a variety of things: beauty, sexual attractio

Tuesday Straight Talk

What a blessing they are to those of us who come. We get blessed by the teaching, our toes are stepped on at times and there are always more than one of us who thinks…this one was just for me! Straight talk is always wonderful fellowship before, during and after. Some joking fun at one another and lots of laughter. If Helen Boles gets to come, each of us receives a loving hug. Pastor Sam gently rebukes us when we get too “talkified” or distracting. Oh, what a blessing and a joy straight talking to us. Pastor Dave encourages us to get out of our comfort zone, thus we grow. It is a perfect time to get to know your pastors’ hearts. Come join us and see and hear and receive an extraordina

Just One of the Ways the Holy Spirit has Affected My Life

The best way for me to share how the Holy Ghost has worked in my life is to share a bit about myself. I grew up basically as an only child, for my siblings were much older than me. My mom worked all the time as a housekeeper and my dad was a truck driver. Mom was always bone-dead tired, and my dad was a very quiet, withdrawn man who wanted little to do with a little girl when he was home. As a young girl, I spent much of my time playing alone in my room or with my best friends (books). I had an older sister who did take me to church (we went to Central) every now and then. She worked on the bus ministry for a while and I lost my two front teeth falling from the back seat of a church bus. Al

Oh, there is a word that is often despised and often the root of so many problems in Life and in the Church. Submit. So many times, you see people who have so many great qualities but lack in this department and it becomes a hindrance in their faith and or cripples them all together. Truth be known I find myself thinking how my idea is best, or my youth gets the better of me and I find myself looking back seeing that maybe my idea wasn’t best after all. In First Peter five it talks about this very thing. And I am sure it was put in the Bible just for me lol. Walking out your Christian faith is recognizing what needs improvement, examining where you need to make some adjustments. Far too ofte

Walk in Peace Today Knowing God is in Control

Today: Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Please read this slow as Pastor Sam always says. Remember everything you do pray about it first know God is with you working for you. Key – Jesus never did anything independent of the Father. …but in everything… After arriving in Wyoming the other day on our mission trip, we needed to go to the airport in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. While traveling through the mountain passes and Teton mountain range we did not see one animal, that was a hard one for me to take
