Stand Guard

The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. Romans 8:6 I am sure that when I say the word soldier, a mental picture pops into your mind. It might be a modern day picture of a soldier on the battlefield with camouflage, helmet, boots and a gun. Some of you might have pictured a Roman soldier from Jesus’ day. The image would be similar, strong leather sandals for the feet, a helmet with a feathered plume and a sword. The common element for any image of a soldier is a weapon. A weapon is used for attacking someone or defending yourself in war. Since our body is the temple of God and as Christians Christ lives in our hearts, it is importa

Today...You Will Never Mature in Life if You Don't Change!

Change your thoughts. Renew your mind. Change your routine. Get New Results! As a Basketball coach, one of my jobs is player development. Are we progressing daily in areas of our strengths and weaknesses. In the game of basketball there are many aspects to get better, one is mental toughness. In your daily walk with God, where are you with mental toughness? From a 1 to 10, 1 being tough, where are you? Do you let little things get to you, such as: traffic, kids fighting, a spouse late, somebody rushes and takes your parking place, and the list goes on. Keys to help us be tough-minded for Jesus 1. Be willing when someone asks you to do something. Isaiah 1:19 2. Be teachable

Take Heart

When you go through the delays in life, don't get discouraged. Don't lose heart. Don't give up! The Israelites did, and it kept them out of the promised land. Numbers 14: 2-4 says, "All the Israelites grumbled against Moses....If only we had died in Egypt!....We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt." they gave up on their dream. They had been rescued after 400 years of slavery but then wanted to go back because they were being delayed. Like the Israelites, some of us would rather live in slavery than face the fear of freedom. We are not willing to push through and work on the problem until we get it right. We want to give up. We settle for mediocrity in life. Don't settle for less th

Worship

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. Tremble before him, all the earth! The world is firmly established it cannot be moved. Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns!” 1 Chronicles 16:29-31 Today sweet brothers and sisters I implore you to not just worship God, I want to see you enter into WORSHIP! Dance, sing, shout, throw your hands up, and praise in the Spirit. Don't worry about that person next to you, in front, or behind you. Just WORSHIP! Because when you enter with praise the devil has no choice but to flee. Let us beat him in our w

Uncommon Courage

If ever there was a message we need in today’s culture, it’s this: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent” (Acts 18:9b ). In a world full of ideas and beliefs that go against God’s Word, God wants us to have a uncommon courage and stand up for what we know is true and right. Everyone else is speaking up and telling us their worldview every day. Why shouldn’t we stand up for what we believe? To stand courageously, we have to know what God says is the truth and what the world believes. This is called a worldview — what you base your beliefs on. Every person uses a different filter through which they see and understand the world. We may all be looking at the same event, but we w

Thine Cries Have Reached Mine Ears!

Behold, Beloved, I have received the heartfelt cries of a warring saint, whom in intercession, has climbed unto a higher place- to declare the goodness of My Sovereign Kingdom- unto life everlasting and abundant, caused by the complete work of My Sinless Lamb. Atonement- a perfect purchase - undeserved but longed for prize- of one coming to the saving grace of My Son Jesus- who endured the weight of the world’s sin- to extend His grip and embrace thee, in everlasting arms! The power of that blood inked the title deed with your name on it, if you have invited Me in, and kept Me as the Lord of Lords, and the Love of Loves. The name above all names usurps, evicts, cancels, vanishes... any trac

A Gift

For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. Acts 1:5 We are blessed to be able to keep our grandchildren while their parents work. Our days are always eventful! Our grandson is 2, he is starting to talk more and is saying funny things. We find ourselves laughing most of the day about something he has said or done. He is a busy little guy and keeps us on our toes. Our little princess is 5. She will be starting school next year and we will miss her imagination and company. It has been wonderful to be able to go on adventures, “have school” and just share “life” with our grandchildren. Since they are with us every day, they are o

Light It Up

Psalms 18:28-29 “For thou will light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.” “For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.” We are to carry a flame not by our might but by the spirit of God. He is the one who lights our candle but then it is up to us to keep it lit, it is up to us to carry that flame and light other people’s torches. I love the old Sunday school song that says: “This little light of mine I'm going to let it shine, this little light of mine I'm going to let it shine, let it shine let it shine let it shine, hide it under a bushel no I'm going to let it shine. Let it shine let it shine let it shine” Are we letting our light sh

Have Mercy

I was reading in Luke chapter 18 about the blind beggar. It’s an awesome thing how as many times as we read the Word of God a new revelation continues to pour out. This story that I had read so many times, now revealed a new truth to me. Luke 18:38 “He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” This is where I had to stop and really see what was happening. This man, in an impossible situation, with an impossible request is shouting at the top of his lungs because he knows the answer is before him. He knows all the facts, and if that wasn’t enough the crowd of p

Amazing God

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26 WOW! WOW! What an experience I had meeting the president! Only God can do this and His timing! Who would have thought God would use somebody like me to touch the world? But when you are in the palm of His hands then you are in the center of His will and nothing will be impossible with God. When I began to speak to the president, the Holy Spirit came over me and I zoned everyone out but looked straight at the president and spoke from the heart. I even received a twitter from his daughter- Ivanka who thanked me. Wow! We serve amazing God and I give Him all the Glory for this.

Today Step Out Without Fear

Today, step out in the area that God wants you to and don't fear a thing. Looking at life, the greatest single enemy you will face is the enemy of fear. Fear can attack you in every area - your health, your finances, your job, your family and the list goes on. Everyone has a problem with this intruder we call fear. God says, Men's hearts fail them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. Luke 21:26 The Apostle Paul wrote, "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." II Timothy 1:7 Fear comes from the devil. Fear is a spirit. Fear has torment. Stir yourself up and

The Potential of a Sack Lunch

“After these things Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (or Tiberias). A large crowd followed Him, because they saw the signs which He was performing on those who were sick. Then Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat down with His disciples. Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was near. Therefore Jesus, lifting up His eyes and seeing that a large crowd was coming to Him, said to Philip, "Where are we to buy bread, so that these may eat?" This He was saying to test him, for He Himself knew what He was intending to do. Philip answered Him, "Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, for everyone to receive a little." One of His disciples,

I Your Help Be...

You have a lit flame within, that nothing can snuff out. I have made you a radiant light, Beloved, to stand out in the midst of your doings. In calm trust draw from the knowledge, insight, wisdom, revelation, power, found in the nuggets of truth you have searched for in My word, and received from meditations in the secret quiet place with Me! Let no distress raging force attempt to mettle with what’s in stone; for in My grip you are indeed and by your side stalwart. You are the loved one I watch over... under My watchful care your days occur. In the face of difficulty pressure remember: I, too, experienced such pain. Give over every one of your burdens, and lightened you will be. Yoked to th

Masks

In our world today we all put on masks. Whether it be layers of clothing, makeup or hair gel. We change the way we look, we bejewel ourselves and we try to keep up with current trends. We often put on different faces to please others. But truly, why are we? Jesus didn't conform to others, he stood out, he didn't worry what others thought, or felt about him. He was true to himself and stood with the Word of God. His character was reflected in the Father. What is your reflection in the father? Are you putting on any masks? Are you trying to cover anything up? Or… are you talking openly and honestly? Are you walking in the light God put you in? What does your reflection look like? Do you like

Wheelbarrow Faith (Part 2)

Daniel is an excellent example when it comes to “wheelbarrow faith”. He was taken from his homeland in the first deportation to Babylon. He was put into a group of the most intelligent, gifted, capable and handsome young men. When he gets there, he goes into a three year “brain washing” regimen. He can do nothing about the change in his Hebrew name and he was also stripped of his masculinity. Most scholars believe Daniel became eunuch because his supervisor was in charge of eunuchs (Daniel 1:30). Now, he is ordered to eat the food the king ordered knowing that it would be food offered to idols. For him, this would be like denying his God. He determined not to defile himself this way.

Wheelbarrow Faith

I believe faith is often a choice. The Bible tells us that all believers have been given a measure of faith. You can proclaim faith in God but do you exhibit it in life. For example, there is an old story about “the veteran tightrope walker who, after demonstrating he could push a wheelbarrow filled with sand across Niagara Falls on a tightrope and the people applauded his stunning ability, asked for a volunteer. No one in the spectating crowd moved. Finally, a little old man in the back raised his hand, stepped forward, and offered, ‘I’ve seen what you’ve done, and I’ve heard what you’ve said. I believe you can push me across, so I’ll do it.’” Everyone in the crowd held their breath and

Cookies

Note: The Youth were challenged to write a devotion. Olivia Christenson (Grade 5) stepped up to that challenge. I know this will bless your heart. I am very thankful Olivia is letting God use her! Cookies He restores our soul to guide us in the paths of the righteousness. Psalm 23:3 When my mom and I were baking cookies, my mom said that if you read the directions correctly then it will guide you. I said, “yeah, like the Bible.” After I thought about it, just like making a cookie, you have all these steps to choose in life and the Bible is your directions for how to live. If you follow all the directions in making a cookie, your reward is to have a really good cookie. Same with all t

What To Do?

The context of today’s devotion is found in 2 Kings 6 where Elisha and his servant where in a certain city and the servant rose up early looked out the window only to find that there was an entire army outside encamped around them. He was scared and in my opinion, he didn’t know what to do. So, he asked Elisha. Elisha did something very interesting. He didn’t try to reason with his servant or tell him it was going to be ok no he said a simple prayer: 2 Kings 6:17: And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. Today

Resurrection

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Galatians 2:20 Salvation is a resurrection of our crucified flesh. We no longer live under self-sufficiency but everything we do and say comes from the Father. We surrender control to God, being grateful for His presence and yearning for more of Him. The Passion Week is past and Easter for another year is behind us. We celebrated Christ’s resurrection. The very foundation of our belief is faith in the fact that Jesus is alive and sitting at the right hand of the Father. Because H

Fire Fighters

In July of 2002, a forest fire scorched part of the Pryor mountains, about twenty-five miles southeast of Bridger, Montana. Started by lighting, it burned six-thousand acres of pine trees in a mountainous terrain. For ten days three-hundred forest fire-fighters were stationed in Bridger. They set up their headquarters on the grade school grounds. About one-hundred small tents scattered out on the school playground, with a multitude of trucks, and a converted school bus they used for their transportation. They also brought a huge generator to provide their own electricity. When the fire was contained, the fire fighters left town as quickly as they came. The school grounds were back to normal,
