God's Special Harvest

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 1 Peter 4:10 My prayer for this fall holiday season is to bring to everyone’s attention (especially the children), how special they are to God and that they are appointed a special purpose from God. The Bible tells us to, grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,2 Peter 3:18. We are God’s special harvest. He made us specifically for an intended purpose. We have been selected and appointed to the purpose He has just for us. On this Halloween holiday, the children enjoy dressing up as someone else, a princess, a firefighter, a cowboy or even Minnie

This is the Message

This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. My little children, I am

There is an old saying that you have to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything. God was very persistent in His Word about us standing. He said in 1 Samuel 12:16, Now therefore stand and see this great thing, which the Lord will do before your eyes. We don’t get to see great things from God just sitting around. 1 Chronicles 23:30, And to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord. He wants us to get up with him. I try to thank him every morning for another day and another chance to be with my family. I am thankful daily for another chance to tell someone about Him. Don’t get caught up with the cares of the world always saying, go, go, go! Stop once in a while and just sta

Today, Think A Little Bigger!

During one day, the great artist Michelangelo went into the studio room of the artist Raphael and looked at one of his early drawings. Then, he took a piece of chalk and write the word, “Amplius”, which means, greater, bigger or larger, across the whole drawing. Michelangelo saw in an instant the sketch was too cramped, too narrow in its vision. He encouraged Raphael to think bigger, dream bigger, to have a larger goal or vision for his work. See things today from God’s perspective…. make your plans bigger, more colorful and know that, “with God all things are possible.” Jeremiah 29:11 “But my God…..shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:

I Will Be With You

In Judges chapters 6-8, you will find a short history of a man named Gideon, or sometimes referred to as Jerubbaal. Gideon became a judge to Israel for 40 years. In the opening scene of chapter 6, Israel once again had fallen away from God. The result was the same of leaving their God, and they were over ran by the enemy. This time the enemy was the Midianites, Amalekites and other eastern peoples. These enemies were desert nomads that would raid the Israelites crops just at the right time, take their plunder, and being camel jockeys—made their escape fast and sure. Time after time this had happened, so being harvest time once again, Gideon was beating out some wheat in a wine press, hiding

The Cup

Today as I was getting my morning coffee, I was looking for my favorite cup. It was a gift to me and holds the perfect amount of coffee probably about 32 oz. I know that is a lot but it is just what I need to get going. It is a metal one with my favorite baseball team on it, the St. Louis Cardinals. But as I was looking for it knowing just the one I wanted. I thought many prayers are like this knowing just what we want, the one that would be perfect for us. And I often get frustrated when I can’t find it, just like some of my prayers. But what if God has another cup for me... Am I fighting to find what I want, growing impatient, and growing frustrated? What if the cup that God has for me is

What Do You See?

I’ve had a rather humbling experience that in a way, broke my heart. One thing I tell the kids is, take time for people. Never get too busy to be kind, look someone in the eye and simply say hello. Listen when they speak, actually hear them with your heart not just your ears. So, I had taken the girls to the library and as we were leaving I noticed a woman by the door. I told the girls to tell her goodbye and have a good day. They did, she smiled and didn’t say anything, and we headed to the car. I was in a hurry after all. I got just past the door and she came running after me. She said, “Wait!! Please wait! Your girls said goodbye to me and I couldn’t answer them because I had water in my

The Renewed Mind

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:1-2 In a sermon, John Piper said, “We are perfectly useless as Christ-exalting Christians if all we do is conform to the world around us.” Paul tells us in the book of Romans that the key is to be transformed. The word in Romans 12 “transformed” is the same as the word “transfigured” in Matthew 17:2, And He was transfigured before the

At His Feet

I love the story in Luke 10 about Mary sitting at Jesus’ Feet. Luke 10 38-42 Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word. But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me.” But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” How many times in

More Ponderings From Kathy

“Because you live I can face tomorrow.” Lam. 3:2 Because I know who holds my future…so now tomorrow is today and I love the peace knowing He’s there to holdthis tomorrow and will be there again tomorrow. Yesterday,(Wednesday) I had a rough day due only to my words and actions of which I was ashamed of. All day I beat myself up so by time to go to church, I had to make myself drive over. I didn’t feel worthy to be there…. then we sang Because He Lives! I stopped beating myself up and received His grace and mercy. Lam 3:23and I focused on peace. Lam. 3:23 “His compassions (mercies) never fail. They are new every morning.” With that promise, I know He has my future tomorrow’s, and I can face t

Hall of Fame

………”that they were strangers and pilgrims on earth…..but now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.” Hebrews 11b, 16 The Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11 is a favorite. The very first verse starts with, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” That is the qualifier to be found in Chapter 11. How it is fleshed out in the people mentioned, however, was very different from one another. Such people as Enoch who walked with God so closely that God took him to heaven without seeing death. Rehab, a former prostitute that did not even have opportunity to know

Today You Can

I was reading this story the other day and I was impressed. There was a child that was a couple months premature being born and he wasn’t breathing. Well, the doctors gave him a heavy dose of oxygen to save his life but the life preserving oxygen caused Kent to be blind. Although their son was sight-impaired Kent’s parents were determined that he not be life impaired. They taught him to do virtually everything other children did: he loved challenges. Climbing trees, riding a bike, and yes, going to school. He has some mishaps as all of us do, but he was also a straight A student and a Boy Scout. His favorite reading book was Golden Book of Astronomy. Well, as life went forward so did Kent. K

Awe Factor of God

Every month we have a youth group student speak and share their heart. The group was blessed by Olivia’s word on fearing God. Her message really stuck and personally I began to think about the awe factor of God. Fearing God means to be in awe of Him. I began really studying the Bible about fearing God and one of my favorite awe factors was found in Genesis 21 and 22. In Genesis 21, Issac was born after many years of praying and staying faithful. In Genesis 22, Abraham is asked by God to take Issac to the land of Moriah and offer him as a burnt offering. Abraham goes to the mountains and prepares the fire. Genesis 22:5, Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey, and I and the

My Testimony for the Month

There is a verse in Revelation that says that the saints “Overcame him [Satan] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” As I previously stated in an earlier devotion, every test and trial that we go through gives us an opportunity to glorify the steadfast, awe-inspiring character of God. We should always be ready with a testimony about God’s goodness. Here’s a recent one from my personal family. Several weeks ago, I was at work when my phone rang. I’m not supposed to answer it at work except in case of emergencies, so I quietly hit a button on my phone that said, “text me.” Imagine my surprise when thirty seconds later I received this text from my youngest daughter Ashle

Those Round About You...They Are Waiting

Heroes of the Christian faith can be a Noah, a David, Ruth, Paul or Silas. Or how about the little boy who used his lunch to feed the multitude? Some people would say Bill Graham…..how about you…… who would you say? Well, what about Edward Kimble or another guy, Scott Schulte? Edward Kimble was a regular ordinary guy that was a shoe salesman who worked alongside a fellow named Dwight. Edward took time and shared Jesus Christ with Dwight, and Dwight accepted Jesus Christ has his Savior. It was in taking a little timeto share about God’s love and why Jesus came to earth that Edward Kimble lead Dwight Moody to the Lord. From that point on Dwight L. Moody became one of the world’s great evangeli

The Cost of Following Jesus

“When you follow me as my disciple, you must put aside your father, your mother, your wife, your sisters, your brothers—yes, you will even seem as though you hate your own life. This is the price you’ll pay to be considered one of my followers. Luke 14:26 The Passion Translation (TPT) 14:26 Or “hate”. This is an Aramaic and Hebraic metaphor for putting Jesus above every other relationship. The Aramaic word sna has several meanings and can mean “hate” or “put aside.” In this case Jesus, the King of love is not saying to hate but to put aside every other relationship into second place. I didn’t understand this scripture with most Bible translations saying; “hatehis father and mother, wife and

Beloved, My Rose

To Me, you are a flower beyond compare. Exquisite is the make up of your unique structure. Fragrant and appealing are you to Me, thus in maturing, you gain a weathering of seasons lived- that patina’s the surface of a well used anchor! The markings of your sojourn beautify your countenance, in fact, only sweeter is your incandescence (glow)... the pleasure of words and abandoned affection. I see a bride whose longings remain for the One, tried and true, Lover in all seasons; who tenderly values the bloom of a well tended, all weathers “cream of the crop”, ready for picking by the One, who’s delighted always in your very making! Selah Song of Songs 4:6-7 The sweet fragrant curves of your body

Don’t ever lose your joy. What a great saying! Wester says the definition of joy is, a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. To put joy into action means to rejoice. The Bible says in Philippians 4:4, Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice. God is telling us that in all things we should rejoice. Sometimes that’s a hard thing, but you already knew that. Every day is something special. Psalms 118:24 says, This is the day which the Lord hath made, we will rejoice and be glad in it. No matter where you find yourself in life, find joy. God loves our praise. He loves for us to rejoice. I have learned that I can’t do either without joy. I believe that The Sanctuary of Hope is

The past couple of weeks I have had people ask me what is your vision, what is God putting on your heart and what vision do you have for Restoration Connection. Each one of us have a vision and the best part is they are not always going to be the same vision but they will always work with the others. God places gifting and callings on people that are different and He does that so that the body is complete. Each one works with the other and Makes the body work. When it doesn’t that normally means that there is a sprit of competition or jealousy and that needs to be dealt with immediately so that the body starts working together again. So what is my vision? This is my vision: “The Spirit of t

His Strength

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. I find myself in situations where I’m throwing my hands up and saying, “God I have no power to help this situation, only you can handle this.” It is often a helpless feeling until I am reminded of His Word. In times of uncertainty we have to step out of our feelings and into the truth of God’s Word. We kid ourselves into
